OBJECTIVES

At the end of this presentation, participants should have increased information to:

  • Evaluate the stressors that are inherent in raising a child with developmental disability and how that stress may affect family functioning
  • Recognize mainstream and empirically supported treatment modalities
  • Develop a strategy for helping patients to evaluate and select appropriate treatment options
  • Identify reliable and appropriate professionals for future referrals when more support is required than can be offered in medical check-up visit

This series is designed for physicians, residents and medical students and is available to other health care professionals with an interest in the program being presented.
